A shared love of old fashioned comfort food, the deep satisfaction of enjoying a great cup of coffee and the joy of sharing a little bit of yourself through cooking great food lead Livingstone’s three co-owner to set up shop in early 2015.
Located right amongst the hustle and bustle of the busy CBD, we transformed a “concrete jungle” into an “urban oasis” where people could take a few moments out of the busy to-ing and fro-ing of their day to enjoy a delicious coffee and some home cooked food.
The café bears the name of the famous Dr David Livingstone – a legendary “rags to riches” inspiration, scientist, anti-slavery crusader and explorer who mysteriously disappeared in the African jungle for an extended period of time. Dispatched by the New York Herald to track down the missing Livingstone, journalist Henry Morton Stanley coined the now famous line “Dr Livingstone, I presume?” when he finally crossed his path.
At Livingstone’s we have drawn on the old world charm and eccentric genius of our namesake to explore exactly what’s possible with 24 square meters of floor space, a whole lot of creativity and love for great, handmade comfort food.
